No Doubt in the Studio
Hare’s a short video of No Doubt in the studio recording a track for their upcoming album due out sometimes in September 2012. You can sort of hear a snippet of their new tune. Is’s very dancey! Why is No Doubt featured in this blog? Because, this new song is produced by our favorite producer Switch & Diplo a.k.a. Major Lazer and features Busy Signal. We were big No Doubt fans growing up. When our favorite growing up band teams up with our favorite producers, it tends to get us psyched.
SebastiAn – Doggg
Ed Banger’s electro rocker SebastiAn is about to drop his new LP titled “Total”. The track lists include old track like ‘Ross Ross Ross’, along with the uncharacteristically laid back lead single ‘Embody’. There are also collaborations featuring vocals from Mayer Hawthorne in the Prince influenced ‘Tough Games’ and appearance by M.I.A. in C.T.F.O. Other outstanding tracks include the discofied ‘Arabest’, the guitar driven ‘Doggg’ and Justice sound a like in ‘Yes’. Overall, its a great album and something to look forward to. Total will be out on Ed Banger/Big Beat/Atlantic on May 30th.

Where I’m Going
Australian electronic pop band Cut Copy played in Jakarta 2 weeks ago. I didn’t make it to the show but I’m sure it was swell. Anyway, after the full on New Order inspired In Ghost Colours they are going all flower child pop with its rag tag drums, tie-dye melody and those keyboards from “Baba O’Riley” that sound like they could fill the sky. It’s definitely a new psychedelia experience. It’s out via a limited, one-sided 7-inch press on Modular later this summer. The new album? We just have to find out when it ready.
MSTRKRFT is the master of their own destiny
After staying quite for a while, our favorite Canadian dj/producer duo is back on the production side. Here’s a couple tunes that will remind you why MSTRKRFT was the darling of the nurave/indie dance crowd. First is a remix of Laidback Luke’s Till Tonight that starts of like typical Laidback Luke production until the swirling lead kicks in and drive the tune into its apex, guaranteeing hands in the air moment anywhere and anytime you hear this tune. The second one is a cheeky remix of The A-Team’s theme. This one is truer to MSTRKRFT sound with its distorted guitar sounding lead and its more rock based composition. All I can say, MSTRKRFT is back!

Immunize

UK based Australian drum’n'nbass super band Pendulum is about to drop their latest album Immersion. From what I’ve heard so far, they’re not straying too far away from their previous effort. Their first single Watercolours is an epic drum’n'bass anthem in true Pendulum style (if you’re a die hard junglist then you probably know what to expect, otherwise if I must describe then its a mix of stadium rock sound with driving lead synth that emulates electric guitar added with melancholic melodies). Their next single is Immunize ft. Prodigy’s Liam Howlett. The result is a track that showed why Liam Howlett’s Prodigy and Pendulum are two of dance music’s biggest crossover acts to date.

Jump

My favorite Van Halen tune is getting a new remix treatment from Boston’s Hot Pink Delorian. SInce the original tune is so great, they really don’t have to do much other than beefing up the drum. Just like the old proverb said, “If it ain’t broken don’t fix it”, the boys really deliver with this minimalistic remix approach. I will definitely drop this on my next set.
