New disco goodness from Ed Banger’s Breakbot. Not necessarily for the dancefloor but it’s definitely beautiful.

Azealia Banks – Fuck Up The Fun

The genre hopping superstar DJ/Producer Diplo hooked up with this awesome new female MC Azealia Banks to create this insanely bangin’ new tune titled Fuck Up The Fun. I don’t know the genre of the tune but it incorporate some samba drum, hiphop style MCing and Bmore-ish beat. Unfortunaely, eventually she will be compared to Rye Rye. This track is bangin, infectious and sick!

Diplo – Express Yourself EP

Diplo is definetely of of those producer that refused to be put into one genre. He constantly jumping genres from crunk to Bailefunk, to dubstep to whatever genres out there. Express Yourself EP is his first effort in doing the New Orleans Bounce. New Orleans bounce itself is a genre that I’m not familiar with. Upon first listen it has that chopped up sample similar to Bmore then it cros into something similar to moombahton and bouncy rap on top of it. Well, I’m not sure if my description of New Orleans Bounce is accurate based on this tune because I’m not sure whether this tune is a true Bounce tune or it’s Diplo’s interpretation. I will leave it for you to decide.

Local Flava: John B ft. NSG – Light Speed (Radio Mix)

Some of you might wander why a John B tune is listed under local flava when he’s actually from the UK. The reason is because of his collaborator in this tune NSG. This is not the first time that this MC/producer NSG who is Indonesian featured in this blog. Previously we mentioned him in his collaboration with Indonesian female hip-hop mc Yacko in her track Brrapp! and also his online collaboration video that went viral on youtube.

Now that we got that out of the way, Light Speed is the tittle track from John B’s 4th album. It got all of John B’s trademark sound of big room trance that gives you euphoric and uplifting vibe blended expertly in drum’n'bass format. Basically the currently trendy techy/trancy sound of drum & bass owes a lot to this man. John B’s sound is definitely not for everyone. Many drum & bass purist have accuse him of stirring drum & bass too far away from its root. That’s what purist are though, always afraid of changes. As for me, I love the idea of drum & bass incorporating other style. The more the merrier. Variety is the spice of live ain’t it?

John B’s Light Speed is out now on Beta Recordings and available at Beatport.

M.I.A. – Bad Girls [video]

M.I.A’s last album Kala was a total disaster. Her latest single Bad Girls though, have all the signs that she’s trying to right the ship back by going towards safer sound. We’ll see whether this is enough to brig her back.

ASC – Common Ground

ASC is giving away his tune Common Ground as free download on his Soundcloud page. The track itself is a nice chill spacey atmospheric dnb variety. Check it out below!

Burial vs Massive Attack – Four Walls

After the massive collaboration between him adn Thom Yorke & Fourtet, Burial is back at it again with a new one collabs with Massive Attack. All I can say is its dark, moody, atmospheric while at the same time beautiful. This release is only available as vinyl and they’re all gone. In the meantime just listen to it here.

www.selftitledmag.com is kind enough to post the mp3 on their website. They might have say it best “the following MP3 isn’t dusted with gold glitter, it’ll have to do for now…”.

Local Flava: Agrikulture – Lagu Cinta Cintaan [video]

Lagu Cinta Cintaan is Agrikulture’s first single from their newly released 2nd album Terang Benderang. Upon first listen, I must conclude that these boys were probably listening to Vampire Weekend way too much. As for Agrikulture, they are one of the pioneer in Indonesian Electronic music movement in the early noughties together with other electronic acts such as EGRV, Rock’N'Roll Mafia, Mobil Derek & Media Distorsi. As time progress, most of these bands have gone on to eventually settle with their own respective sound yet, none change as drastically as Agrikulture did.

Agrikulture started as 3 piece band with 3 djs Hogi, Anton & Aditya. During that formative year the band formation constantly change before eventually settled with 3 new members Dipha Barus in bass & synth, Emil in Guitar, Fandy in vocal and the last remaining original member Aditya in 2006. Their Debut album Dawai Damai. received critical acclaimed and generated some buzz around the region. With the release of their 2nd album, Agrikulture is looking to pick up where Dawai Damai left and try to become the next crossover success.

Agrikulture’s Terang Benderang is out now on Nagaswara and available at all music stores near you.
