Major Lazer a.k.a. Diplo & Switch is giving away their fresh new single for FREE. So, what are you waiting for? go get them at www.majorlazergetfree.com
Azealia Banks – Fuck Up The Fun
The genre hopping superstar DJ/Producer Diplo hooked up with this awesome new female MC Azealia Banks to create this insanely bangin’ new tune titled Fuck Up The Fun. I don’t know the genre of the tune but it incorporate some samba drum, hiphop style MCing and Bmore-ish beat. Unfortunaely, eventually she will be compared to Rye Rye. This track is bangin, infectious and sick!
Diplo – Express Yourself EP
Diplo is definetely of of those producer that refused to be put into one genre. He constantly jumping genres from crunk to Bailefunk, to dubstep to whatever genres out there. Express Yourself EP is his first effort in doing the New Orleans Bounce. New Orleans bounce itself is a genre that I’m not familiar with. Upon first listen it has that chopped up sample similar to Bmore then it cros into something similar to moombahton and bouncy rap on top of it. Well, I’m not sure if my description of New Orleans Bounce is accurate based on this tune because I’m not sure whether this tune is a true Bounce tune or it’s Diplo’s interpretation. I will leave it for you to decide.

Local Flava: John B ft. NSG – Light Speed (Radio Mix)
Some of you might wander why a John B tune is listed under local flava when he’s actually from the UK. The reason is because of his collaborator in this tune NSG. This is not the first time that this MC/producer NSG who is Indonesian featured in this blog. Previously we mentioned him in his collaboration with Indonesian female hip-hop mc Yacko in her track Brrapp! and also his online collaboration video that went viral on youtube.
Now that we got that out of the way, Light Speed is the tittle track from John B’s 4th album. It got all of John B’s trademark sound of big room trance that gives you euphoric and uplifting vibe blended expertly in drum’n'bass format. Basically the currently trendy techy/trancy sound of drum & bass owes a lot to this man. John B’s sound is definitely not for everyone. Many drum & bass purist have accuse him of stirring drum & bass too far away from its root. That’s what purist are though, always afraid of changes. As for me, I love the idea of drum & bass incorporating other style. The more the merrier. Variety is the spice of live ain’t it?
John B’s Light Speed is out now on Beta Recordings and available at Beatport.

Justice – On’n'On (Rick Rubin Remix)
Ed Banger’s top artist Justice is readying their next single, the heavily Led Zeppelin influenced track On’n'On. The single is due for release on January 30th with remixes from Erol Alkan, Tiga, Video Village and Def Jam records founder Rick Rubin. The result is a sexy funked up version that is just too hard to resist.
Justice’s On’N'On is out on Ed Banger and available at iTunes store starting from January 30th.
Skrillex – Bangarang ft. Sirah

After several Grammy nominations, Skrillex’ next release has become one of the most highly anticipated music. His next follow up is Bangarang EP. In a way, he still deliver his trademark sound but it leaves you a bit disappointed because he has yet you show any progress in the evolution of the Skrillex sound. Bangarang is not a full album though. The label might just release this as a stop-gap between his long awaited full length debut while capitalizing in the moment. If you’re a huge Skrillex then this one is for you. As for the rest, this will add even more fuel to Skrillex haters/Dubstep purist to lash out even more.
Bangarang is out now on Big Beat Records and available at Beatport.

Switch – I Still Love You ft. Andrea Martin
After long stint in pop production, our favorite producer Switch a.k.a. Dave Taylor a.k.a. Solid Groove is back with more dance stuff in the form of I Still Love You, a collaboration with En Vogue’s Andrea Martin. It definitely got that Switch sound but a lot more toned down and way less in your face compared to Switch’s releases from pre Major Lazer era. Nonetheless, great grooving beats and soulful vocal from Andrea Martin turn this low key tune into gold. Don’t miss this release.

Local Flava/Soundcloud Diggin’: Akira As Astronaughty
Welcome to the first proper Local Flava column. This column will focus on Indonesian dance music producers/djs. As a country with over 250 millions people we definitely have tons of potential producers. Some of the top producers from Indonesia are Angger Dimas and Mahesa Utara and many more are bound to follow in their foot steps. One such producer is Akira As Astronaughty a.k.a. DMust Akira.
He’s been around for a few years, content being the man behind the screen. Now he’s ready to breakout on his own with the release of his solo album “Attracted To The Light“. Speaking of album, his sound can be describe as melodic electro. The best way to describe it is take a bit of Daft Punk add some Fred Falke and small dose of Aeroplane & Digitalism, throw in a lil’ bit of Justice and MSTRKRFT but turndown the distortion level, and occasionally sprinkle some Skrillex and you have Akira As Astronaughty. In other words, its the French sound. Yes, we believe that Akira As Astronaughty is gonna make some noise in the upcoming years. Keep your ears open for this guy.
Akira As Astronaughty’s Attracted To Light is out now on Aonyx Records. Apparently you can order it online. For info on how to order it go here.

Wolfhaus – Dub & Screwed vol.1
Chilled moody dub influenced bass music that isn’t dubstep. Thats how I’d describe Helsinski’s Wolfhaus. AS part of party startin’ crew Top Billin’ this duo is definetely offering something different. Fire up the reefer and enjoy this new mix Dubbed & Screwed Vol.1.
