Tommie Sunshine – ‘Spring Sprung’ DJ Mix
“Since the radio is full of mainstream dance music right now, I decided to pull things WAY underground for this mix. The world is operating at a fever-pitch and this is the soundtrack of you closing your eyes on a Saturday night and cutting the cords that hold you to this Earth. This is straight up, psychedelic dance music that is intended to cause a state of disconnection with the real world and its made with ultimate love. Do whatever it is that takes you to that place and turn this the fuck up and play it LOUD!” – Tommie Sunshine

Katy B – Broken Records (DJ Fresh Future Jungle Mix)
Upon releasing Future Jungle EP on Ram Records, DJ Fresh has been championing this new sound that he called approriately Future Jungle which is basically a slowed down jungle breaks that runs at around 140 bpm. Its really not that new since Magnetic Man already did something similar in tunes like Perfect Stranger which features Katy B in vocal. Broken Record is the latest single from Katy B and DJ Fresh’s remix sounds like what I’ve mention above. Good stuff.

Holy Ghost! – Wait And See
The thing with all these new post punk, nu disco bands is they all kinda sound similar from one to another. Holy Ghost! is no exception. Their album “Holy Ghost!” is a good album. I enjoyed it through and through upon my first listen, yet it was eerily familiar. There’s a thin red line that separates these bands. If you doubt me, just try to make a playlist filled with Cut Copy, Empire Of the Sun, Midnight Juggernaut, Holy Ghost!, Miami Horror or any of their contemporaries and play them in shuffle mode and you’ll see what I mean. In the mean time, here’s Holy Ghost’s latest single “Wait And See” courtesy of RCRDLBL.
Jack Beats – All Night ft. John B
Here’s a house remake of John B’s massive drum’n'bass anthem Up All Night. Good stuff even though you should never mess with a classic!
Digitalism – 2 Hearts
Here’s a new tune from Digitalism titled “2 Hearts”, taken from their new album “I Love You Dude”. I think they sounds more and more like a band and far from the electronic duo that they started as. Ironic how yesterday we posted Radiohead that sounds less and less like a band and going towards the electronic territory while Digitalism goes the opposite way.
Calvertron – R U Ready?
Drum step is this new sub genres that I paid attention to more and more. It’s basically the bastard child of dubstep and drum’n'bass. In this sub genre we find both the dnb and dubstep producer mixing it up and going toe to to in the production side. Calvertron came from the dubstep side and lately he’s been producing some monster drumstep tunes. R U Ready? is perfect example of this, utilizing that stutter bassline made famous by the likes of High Rankin while alternating with sweeping formant filter made popular by Skrillex, running at perfect half-speed of your favorite d’n'b tunes. On its own, it can easily be mistaken as dubstep tune but if you hear them in the middle of dnb set, it gives’ em a raw and filthy energy!.
Radiohead – Supercollider
As we all know, with subsequent releases Radiohead has been getting more and more into the IDM teritories. Long gone are the day when they release an angst ridden guitar tune. Their latest album Kings of Limbs were either loved or hated by its audience and now that it’s been confirmed that there will be no King Of Limbs pt.2, all Radiohead fans has come to accept the fact that there will be no new Radiohead mayerials in a long while. Fortunately, Radiohead just dropped a single titled Supercollider. Unfortunaly it’s only release as a limited edition vinyl in the UK only. They’re all sold out and supposedly available in e-bay at up to $100. So here’s a digital copy of it. Download it while you can.
